摘要：

This paper discusses the relations between the child and the book, as well as the development of the taste for reading, the difficulties intervening in this process and some ways of overcoming them. Compulsory reading at school, family omission, the notion of the child as an unproductive being, industrialized and mass culture are some of the main intervening difficulties. Free control, text selection according to children's experience, and reading home practice as a social aim are hereby suggested.
