摘要
In this paper, power plant fly ash, as a solid waste produced from combustion of coal, is proposed to be used as an adsorbent for NO(x) removal from flue gases. The properties of the fly ash particularly with respect to NO(x) adsorption were closely examined through carbon content and specific surface area analysis. It is found that the unburnt carbon remaining in the fly ash particles contributes the main surface area to fly ash, and the carbon can be activated to further improving the adsorption performance of fly ash. The experimental results on activation of coarser fly ash particles showed that the adsorption capacity can be increased through controlled gasification of the unburnt carbon.
