This text inquires on the possible relation between photography and the Narcissus myth. For this matter it presents, firstly, the narrative of the legend of "Narcissus and Echo", written by Ovid, as well as a brief reference to other classic literature thereof. Thus, a dialogue is built between the myth and the nature of the photography, emphasizing in the familiar photographic practice, in an analysis of the articulation and breaking points. The correspondence between mirror and photography is one of the dissertation places where discussions sprout, as well as the sequence of pairs between identity-otherness, subject-object and appearance-reality. It is concluded with the commitment of psychoanalysis, as it displays a vision on narcissism, which as core component of the current dissertation connects the individual who auto-eroticizes with the connection "photographic I", a new category based on this text and that is worthy of further developments.
