摘要：
By examination of break outs from strand cast, billets, blooms and slabs the size of the air gap along and around the shell of the strand was clarified. Large temperature variations exist on the mold. These variations give rise to thermal stresses. The microstructure in the shells was analyzed. Both austenite and ferrite could precipitate simultaneously.
