INFLUENCE OF A TREATMENT OF SEEDS WITH BACTERIAL ANTAGONISTS AGAINST GAEUMANNOMYCES-GRAMINIS AND THE RELATION TO YIELD AND INFESTATION BY WHEAT

It is described the application of bacterial antagonists like Pseudomonas spp., Bacillus, Streptomyces and Agrobacterium to suppress Gaeumannomyces graminis on winter wheat in two trials. Model experiments are precided to develop and to test preparations of seeds. Treatment of wheat seeds with antagonistic strains showed only in few cases decreasing infestation rate of roots of young plants and increasing yields. The effect of direct treatment was more efficient under conditions of praxis than treatment with peat preparation. The influence of ecological and agronomical facts on stabilisation of yields by antagonists is discussed.
