Swine sera collected on different post-vaccinal days from organized farm as well as from the field with no known history of vaccination were used for detection of antibody against hog cholera virus (HCV) by indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT). For IFAT, impression smears were prepared from tonsils of rabbits collected 72 hours after infection with a lapinized strain of HCV. The results obtained with IFAT were further compared with agar gel precipitation test (AGPT). IFAT was proved to be more sensitive than AGPT in detecting serum antibody against HCV. The results of both IFAT and AGPT with farm swine sera showed that the maximum antibody titres were observed during the period of 90 days to 180 days after vaccination. Some of the sera collected from field also showed HCV antibody positivity in low titres.
