Relativistic interpretation of stimulated Raman scattering

摘要
A new interpretation for stimulated Raman scattering is proposed which takes into account a relativistic effect, in a manner similar to Cerenkov radiation. There appears a very high gain for the Stokes wave when the velocity of the optical phonon wave becomes greater than that of the laser wave in the medium. For the half-angle of the cone in which the Stokes component is emitted, a theoretical value is deduced in good agreement with the experimental value.
