ORIENTATIONAL ORDERING IN 2-DIMENSIONAL ATHERMAL SOLUTIONS

摘要
The formation of the nematic phase in two-dimensional athermal solutions of the rod-like particles has been studied using the lattice model of a solution with fixed number of possible orientations in the lattice. For the square lattice the transition from the isotropic into the ordered state proceeds as the second-kind phase transition (unlike the three-dimensional cubic lattice characterized by the first-kind phase transition). For the hexagonal lattice (three possible orientations of particles on the plane) this transition is of the first kind as for the cubic lattice.
