摘要
INTRODUCTION: The present study investigates the concurrent validity of the short-form composite Brief Intellectual Ability (BIA)of the battery III Woodcock-Munoz, in relation with the seven subtests of the short-form Full Scale Intelligence Quotient (IQ)from the WISC-IV, based on the Crawford's administration and scoring method. Both tests are short formats and evaluated an index of general intellectual ability or g factor, based on the Cattell-Horn-Carroll theory of cognitive abilities. OBJECTIVE: To establish the concurrent validity of the short-form BIA of the battery Ill, by correlation with WISC-IV's IQ short-form compound. METHODS: Short-form compounds BIA and IQ were applied to a random sample of 83 children aged 6-8 years living in the State of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The Pearson correlation coefficients between the overall scores were assessed by subtests, indexes and factors to accept its concurrent validity and consistency with the factorial structure of intelligence CHC. RESULTS: The correlations found were coherent with the hypothesis in regards to the 10 compound that evaluates the cognitive abilities based on the CHC theory. A statistically significant and positive relationship with global scores of both tests was observed (r = 0.82, p < 0.01). A higher correlation was set to 0.70 for the overall scores of the two tests as an acceptable indicator of concurrent validity. CONCLUSION: The results confirmed the concurrent validity of the short-form BIA, in relation with the IQshort-form, as well as coherencewith the CHC theory.
