摘要
In this article the concepts of citizenship and participation in democratic political systems are analyzed in relation to the interest that is observed in the last decade of the XXth century in finding its roots and to characterize the forms that citizenship and its exercise assume within the dynamics of contemporary societies. On the other hand, a reflection on different meanings found in the term democracy is made, including its internal coherence and practical implications, concluding that the participative element of the subjects that integrate a society, represent the fundamental complement between the procedural approach and the institutional approach to Democracy. In this sense, the need to assume Education for Democracy is accepted as a state project. The methodology used in this study was descriptive since it measured and analyzed the variables mentioned and their specific aspects.
