This paper outlines the trends in standardization of audiovisual telecommunication services, particularly, such realtime conversational audiovisual services as audiographic and video teleconferencing services, and videotelephony services in the ISDN. Current standardization activities in the form of study projects in relevant CCITT study groups are also described including their organization and responsibilities, scope of recommendations and future work items.
