SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF COPOLYCYANURATE OF 1,1'-BIS(3-METHYL-4-HYDROXYPHENYL)CYCLOHEXANE AND 4,4'-DIHYDROXY DIPHENYL SULFONE

摘要
The copolycyanurate of 1,1'-bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexane and 4,4'-dihydroxy diphenyl sulfone (PCMS) has been synthesized by conventional interfacial polycondensation of 1,1'-bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexane (MeBC) (0.0045 mol) and 4,4'-dihydroxy diphenyl sulfone (0.0005 mel) with 2-methoxy-4,6-dichloro-s-triazine (MDT) (0.005 mel) using water (50 mL): chloroform (12.5 mL) as interface, NaOH (0.015 mel) as acid acceptor, and cetyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride (0.125 g) as emulsifier. The reaction temperature and time were 0 degrees C and 5 h, respectively The structure of PCMS was confirmed by elemental, IR and NMR spectral data. The density of PCMS is determined by floatation method at 33 +/- 0.2 degrees C and compared with the calculated values according to Slonimskii et al. The PCMS was fractionated into narrow M. W. fractions by using 1,2-dichloroethane as solvent and isopropanol as precipitant. The fractions were characterized by viscometry in different solvents at different temperatures.
