Interdisciplinarity in healthcare education: the preceptor's view of family health

摘要
Evidence of inadequacy regarding family health strategy preceptors' actions in relation to interdisciplinarity led to a proposal to examine how these professionals are working. This was a descriptive study with a qualitative approach that was developed in the Second Health District of Maceio, Alagoas, Brazil, among a population of nine subjects. Open or in-depth interviews were conducted from the perspective of content analysis. From this analysis, the registry units were: activities developed in day-to-day work within the family health strategy; experience from daily professional practice; meaning of interdisciplinarity; professional/academic education in relation to interdisciplinary practice; benefits of interdisciplinary practice for students' teaching-learning process. The data pointed towards the need for continuing health education as a powerful strategy for improvement of interdisciplinary practice.
