SYSTEMATIC SELECTION OF ADAPTATIONS FOR STUDENTS WITH MUSCULAR-DYSTROPHY

摘要
Students with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy need adaptations in their school environment to promote a successful school experience. As this condition progresses, further adaptations will be needed to accommodate the physical changes and accompanying emotional stress of the disorder. A model for students with physical impairments is proposed to assist the educator in the selection of adaptations for this particular condition. Nine specific categories of adaptations are discussed across the physical and behavioral domains. Case examples of students in various stages of muscular dystrophy using this model are provided.
