A Spanish-Romanian Contrastive Study: State of Play

This study intends to carry out a Spanish-Romanian contrastive analysis focusing on philological, translation and linguistic issues. The first part of the article will consider the most important moments in the history of creation and development of Romanian literary language, the Romanian relation with other languages and especially with Spanish and contains several reflections on the history of translation and the translation process on the whole in the Romanian countries. The second chapter includes a statistical analysis of the translations from Spanish to Romanian throughout the last decades and includes comparative figures of published translations as well as comments on the topics and genres that were approached. The third chapter reviews the most relevant Spanish-Romanian contrastive studies that were elaborated from various linguistic perspectives and notices that little work has been made in this regard from the translation perspective.
