Recently we have developed a rigorous theoretical description of the magnetic dichroism in the absorption of X-rays (MXD) based on the fully relativistic version of the Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker (KKR) method of band structure calculation. It is shown that an extension of our approach to deal with diluted and concentrated alloys is straightforward and accounts properly for the component-specific nature of.the X-ray absorption process. This has been demonstrated by calculating the MXD spectra of a number of nonmagnetic elements dissolved as impurities in ferromagnetic Fe. Comparison with corresponding experimental data resulted in very satisfying agreement. This also holds for concentrated transition metal alloys of the systems FexCo1-x and FexPt1-x.
