摘要：

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common primary brain tumor in adults. Standard treatment consists of maximally radical tumor excision and consecutive radiotherapy that optionally is associated with simultaneous and adjuvant temozolomide (TMZ) chemotherapy. Survival of 65 years old and older patients with GBM is short, and indications to long-term treatment remain controversial. The valuable alternative for conventional fractionated radiotherapy is abbreviated irradiation. The results of some studies show that, chemotherapy with TMZ alone may be an alternative for radiotherapy in elderly patients. Standard therapeutic regimens are feasible in selected cases with good prognostic factors in elderly patients.
