摘要：
Jahn-Teller distortions are considered for a bioctahedral cluster formed by two transition-metal ions of d2-d3 type. The strongest interactions between the d electrons and the totally symmetric and tetragonal vibrations are incorporated. The doubly degenerate Jahn-Teller minimum corresponds to an equilibrium configuration with symmetry C2v. The nondegenerate Jahn-Teller state corresponds to a C4v nuclear configuration.
