ON THE ROLE OF APPLIED AND MISFIT STRESS IN DISCONTINUOUS PRECIPITATION

摘要
The growth of discontinuous precipitation fronts differently oreinted in an applied tensile stress field, is discussed. An elastic calculation (which considers the effects of the dilational coherency strain and also, the misfit strain arising from differences in molar volumes) is presented. It is shown that the elastic interaction, between the applied stress and either of these two misfit sources, exerts an insignificant influence upon the boundary migration rate. A model, based upon the inelastic (creep) deformation, is proposed in which the "virtual forces" acting upon the interfaces are calculated. The contribution to the interface migration rates from these "virtual forces" are shown to be in reasonable agreement with experimental results. © 1990.
