摘要：

Among everyday objects, clothing gets particular meanings that transcend the pragmatic function and are inserted into the field of symbolic, projecting an image of the person and taking part in the construction of gender and social status representation. From postmortem inventories we analyze changes and continuities in women's clothing in the city of Cordoba (Argentina) during XIX century; approaching that will have descriptive and quantitative overtones but both will be located within a social, political and economic context which will explain those changes and recognize some of the discourse that crossed this daily practice.
