Radiation protection is an area of environmental policy which, for years, has attracted more public attention than other topics. The Ger-man Federal Government therefore regularly informs not only the German Federal Parliament, but also the public. In doing so, it endeavors to put before the public the necessary database and issue information so comprehensive that the public is able to judge the current situation with respect to environmental radioactivity and radiation exposure in the Federal Republic. The report presented in November 1993 contains a summary description and evaluation of all results measured in the period under review.
