摘要
An analysis of the classical approach to measure software quality and complexity shows, that today's metrics suffer from an inherent weakness. There exists a discrepancy between what we can effectively measure and what we really want to measure. We illustrate this observation by means of some examples. We would like to draw attention to the fact, that the use of software metrics can possibly be useful, if the obtained results undergo a critical analysis and if they were used with greatest caution.
