Radiofrequency catheter ablation of incessant ventricular tachycardia in a patient with isolated non-compaction of the left ventricle

We report a case of a 16-year-old white woman referred to radiofrequency catheter ablation due to incessant ventricular tachycardia and isolated non-compaction of the left ventricle. Echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance showed important left ventricular dysfunction and confirmed the diagnostic of isolated non-compaction of the left ventricle. The patient continued presenting frequents episodes of non-sustained ventricular tachycardia despite intravenous infusion of amiodarone. Radiofrequency ablation of ventricular tachycardfia was successfully performed. Echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance, performed days after the ablative procedure, revealed improvement of the left ventricular function, maintaining the aspect of isolated non-compaction of the left ventricle. The patient has been free from any symptoms for nine months of follow up. Key words: Non-compaction of the left ventricle. Incessant ventricular tachycardia. Radiofrequency catheter ablation.
