EFFECTS OF THE ADDITION OF F- IONS ON THE PROPERTIES OF FIBROUS HYDROXYAPATITE GROWN IN THE GEL SYSTEM

摘要
The addition of F- ions was found to be quite effective to improve the crystallinity of the fibrous polycrystalline hydroxyapatite (HAP) grown in the gel system consisting of the agar gel containing Ca2+ ions and the overlaid PO43- solution. From X-ray data and infrared spectra of the products, it was found that F- ions were incorporated into OH-site or substituted for OH of HAP, increasing Ca P molar ratio and crystallinity. The F--containing fibrous HAP was not transformed to β - tri-calcium phosphate even when it was heated to 1000 °C, making possible to increase the mechanical strength of fibrous HAP by sintering. © 1990.
