Solution-gas drive experiments are performed in porous media by reducing the pressure on the liquid versus time. They make it possible to establish the correlation between pressure and the volume of the gas phase developed with various pressure decline rates. Nucleation, growth of bubbles by diffusion and expansion of the gaseous phase in the pores are analyzed and simulated. Experimental results are in good agreement with the calculated ones. This leads to a method for the calculation of the critical saturation above which the gas phase becomes mobile, under field conditions.
