摘要
On the tundish of the n-degrees 4 continuous caster in the Kakogawa plant, liquid steel temperature and flow in the tundish were simulated. A new tundish shape was obtained with a very high capacity of 80 tons, without walls or baffle plates. In addition, alternating curent plasma heating was installed to compensate the heat losses in the tundish and thus to maintain temperature constancy in the liquid steel. The following characteristics were studied: arc voltage heat emission, heat performances, etc. This made it possible to improve steel quality effectively during the transitories.
