APPLICATION OF MODELING TO THE CONTROL AND OPTIMIZATION OF COMPOSITES PROCESSING

摘要
The general features of a master model for the description of the thermochemorheological changes in the matrix during the processing of polymer based composites, developed in recent years, are reviewed and applied here to describe the behavior of a new commercial toughened epoxy matrix, characterized through a complete experimental program. The master model is then combined with an intelligent system developed to monitor and predict the real curing temperatures during autoclave processing, providing the boundary conditions of the mathematical model. The integrated system allows the prediction 'on line' of part temperature changes as a function of the programmed air temperature and the optimization of the cure cycle, minimizing the difference between the actual temperature and the value recommended by process specification.
