The Baltic Sea coastal states are prime beneficiaries of the end of East-West division. In the past, they always constituted an integral economic and cultural area-until they were separated by the Cold War. They are now able to grow together once again. In the following article, the German diplomat Hans-Dieter Lucas examines the prospects for cooperation now emerging. As is usual for this journal, the article's content reflects the author's personal opinion.
