The wind energy potential in Bahrain has not been studied thoroughly. A few attempts have been made, but none were extensive. Routine hourly wind data over a period of 6 years (1980-1985) have been analyzed. It was found that the country enjoys an average annual wind velocity of about 5 m/s. A frequency distribution of wind speeds is determined in this paper. The Weibull distribution was used to show the probability distribution function of wind speeds, and thereafter, mathematically present the wind potential. This was done by calculating the dimensionless shape parameter K, and the scale parameter c (m/s) of the Weibull function. Finally, an economic and cost analysis was also studied.
