SELECTIVE DOPAMINE D-1-RECEPTOR AGONISTS, SK-AND-F-38393 AND CY-208-243 REDUCE SUCROSE SHAM-FEEDING IN THE RAT

Gastric-fistulated rats were trained to sham-feed a 10% sucrose solution in a 60 min test. The selective dopamine D-1 receptor agonists, SK&F 38393 (3 and 10 mg/kg, s.c.) and CY 208-243 (I and 3 mg/kg, s.c.) both produced dose-related reductions in sham-feeding. These effects were present in the first 5 min of the test period, and persisted throughout the remainder of the test. The data confirm and extend results for an anorectic effect of SK&F 38393 and demonstrate, for the first time, a similar anorectic effect of CY 208-243.
