Broadcast applications of isoproturon mixed with either urea or soil (farmers' practice) were compared with its spray and granular applications for weed control in wheat. The 3-year study indicated that isoproturon application as spray gave better weed control than other methods of application. While the results were inconsistent with isoproturon application through urea or soil, the weed control was very poor with granular applications. The grain yield of wheat differed significantly only during 1987-88 when spray application of isoproturon gave yields which were significantly higher than yields obtained with applications through soil or as granules.
