School Coexistence: A Review of the Studies of Basic Education in Latin America

摘要
School coexistence has established during the last years as an important field of study and experimenting regarding social relations in the school, having influence on the learning and the requirements of a peaceful society. The objective of this review of the academic literature was to research on the types of school practices, subjects and methodologies which are characteristic the empirical studies about school coexistence in Latin America in the period 2005-2014; in order to perform this, 15 articles from the Redalyc and Scielo journal databases were selected. The results show that the types of studied practices are mostly conventional and, to a lesser extent, of experimenting. Among the seven subjects treated are identified those more general, such as school violence, to those more specific such as the bullying. At a methodological level, the trend is towards qualitative and mixed approaches; in most of the works the theoretical basis is precarious and the details of the quality and ethical aspects of the research.
