摘要
Evolution of solitary waves in nonlinear media that include gain and two-photon absorption is investigated. Stationary propagation of solitary waves is shown to be possible in the media for any gain and loss; nevertheless, it is limited within a finite distance due to the intrinsic characteristic of instability of the waves.
