Fuzzy Subsets Theory and Data Envelopment Analysis for Prices Estimation in Biotechnological Product Export

Biotechnology has been for some years one of the fundamental sectors for Cuban economic development. Its important role is given, among other elements, by the growing nature of its exports of high value-added products. However, this being a highly competitive international sector, many marketing decisions present a high component of uncertainty. At the same time, some mathematical tools have been developed in order to reduce the subjective nature of business decision making and with it, uncertainty. This paper proposes a procedure for the estimation of prices in the export of biotechnological products, based on fuzzy subset theory and data envelopment analysis. The proposal is applied to the biosimilar product Hebervital and it is concluded that the procedure reduces uncertainty in decision-making. In particular because of the use of triangular fuzzy numbers, which greatly support the negotiation process.
