What philosophy of psychoanalysis is and what it is not

This paper aims at a synthetic presentation of the research field in philosophy of psychoanalysis. For this, it presents a short history of the relationship between psychoanalysis and philosophy, followed by some comments on the emergence of philosophy of biology, which can be regarded as model for what happens today with philosophy of psychoanalysis. Next, it presents and analyses the development of the latter in Brazilian philosophy, and, finally, concludes with a sketch of categorization of the kind of research that can be found in this field. It is part of a systematic attempt to make explicit the meaning of what can be called philosophy of psychoanalysis today.
