Dynamical behavior is treated of the MHD-steam combined cycle as a part of a study of the MHD-steam pilot plant through time-dependent numerical analyses. (1) In the static characteristics, fuel supply or water supply has a larger influence on the steam turbine system than on the MHD generation system. (2) When the fuel supply is changed stepwise, the output from the MHD generator responds almost instantaneously, whereas the output from the steam turbines changes slowly with a time constant of about 100 s. (3) When the water supply is changed stepwise, the output from the steam turbines responds with its variation at first (about 20 s) and then reaches the final value with the same time constant, whereas the output from the MHD generator is kept almost constant. (4) The overall system can be stably operated under the condition of rapid change of fuel or water supply.
