EXAMINATION OF DES-TYROSINE1-GAMMA-ENDORPHIN ACTIVITY AT H-3-SPIROPERIDOL BINDING-SITES IN RAT-BRAIN

Des-tyrosine1-γ-endorphin (DTγE, β-LPH 62-77) was tested for its ability to affect the binding of 3H-spiroperidol in rat corpus striatum, frontal cortex and nucleus accumbens-olfactory tubercle. 3H-Spiroperidol binds with high affinity and specificity to neuroleptic receptors in brain tissue. The inability of DTγE to inhibit specific 3H-spiroperidol binding reported here suggests that DTγE is not acting at the neuroleptic receptor labeled by 3H-spiroperidol in these regions of rat brain. © 1979.
