摘要
Conventional ERDA in combination with RBS and the N-14(d, alpha)C-12 nuclear reaction has been applied to understand the wear behaviour of 210Cr46 tool steel after nitrogen implantation. However, the presence of the neighbouring elements C-12 and O-16 within the N-14-implanted layers results in both strong limitations for the conventional ERDA and the necessity to registrate them analytically. The ERDA with Bragg ionization chamber proved useful allowing depth profile measurements with element separation in a single run. The solid-state lubrication caused by a nonmetallic carbon covering of the steel surface was deduced to increase the wear resistance drastically.
