The formability of oxide phases R123(RBa2Cu3O6+x) and R211 with rare earth element has been studied. R123 forms line compound with Er, Ho, Dy and Gd, but has a solubility in the systems with Eu, Sm, Nd, Pr and La. When the stoichiometric Nd123 was heat treated at 1173K, fine BaCuO2 phase precipitated in the matrix and the intra critical current density increased remarkably. The same type of R211 phase with Y211 forms in 8 rare earth systems. In the Nd and La systems, R211 phase has a solubility and the different crystal structure (P4/mbm) from that of Y211.
