摘要
A model is proposed for strain associated with smooth blunting of a notch under mode I type of loading. The model yields a relationship between notch tip strain and crack-opening displacement. The predictions of the model were found to be in good agreement with J. N. Robinson and A. S. Tetelman's experimental data on A533-B steel. The implications of this result with respect to quantitative estimates of the notch tip stress distribution and for prediction of critical stress intensity values for fracture are discussed.
