STRUCTURAL ANALOGS OF PLATELET-ACTIVATING-FACTOR - CORRELATION-ANALYSIS OF BIOLOGICAL-ACTIVITY

The pro- and anti-inflammatory and pro- and anti-aggregatory activities of platelet-activating factor (PAF) and its six structural analogs were studied. Correlation analysis of their biological activity has revealed no relationship between their anti-aggregatory and anti-inflammatory activities. It is concluded that successful search for novel anti-inflammatory drugs based on structural PAF analogs requires at least a concomitant application of rapid methods for evaluating their anti-aggregatory activity and routine techniques for detecting the baseline activity at the level of the whole body.
