摘要
The aim of this study was to explore the emergence of two educational groups: Academics for a Better World (AFBW) in 2012/2013 in Scotland and Sweden and Volunteering Academy in 2014 in Scotland. Utilizing a reflexive approach, we have highlighted how these initiatives became a conduit for fostering community activism, transformational learning, critical reflection, and empowerment among students. We believe that broadening the narrative to establish links with communities may enhance critical reflection. Further, it is a valuable agenda for universities and should be the next step in the evolution of a more open, participatory, and influential type of tertiary education.
