CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES PRESENT TO WRITE THE HISTORY OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN CUBA DURING THE PERIOD 1940-1961

The development study of the education starts, unavoidably of understanding the successes and errors made in this field by our predecessors. The disappearance in Cuba of the private higher education has caused the ignorance of the characteristics of these universities. To go, today, into the particularities of the private universities that existed in Cuba is, nowadays, as necessary as difficult. The disappearance of these institutions caused that also disappeared lost of documents that could explain their performance. The guidelines followed by the authors in order to solve the difficulties before outlined and also the ideas and possibilities to tell the history of this period became the main objectives of this work.
