We present results on upgrading of wood and briquettes by means of torrefaction. The torrefied products showed significantly less smoking during combustion and a relatively faster rate of combustion. The weight and energy yields of torrefied wood are 66.7-83.3 and 76.5-89.6%, respectively; the corresponding values for sawdust briquettes are 76.3-93.8 and 83.1-95.3%, respectively.
