摘要
Most domestic refrigerators and freezers use CFC-11 as the blowing agent for the polyurethane foam which insulates and provides structural support for the appliance. CFC-12 is used as the refrigerant. Alternatives for both CFC-11 and CFC-12 are presented, along with an outline of the technical problems that must be solved in order to successfully apply each alternative. Since tough new product energy standards for products sold in the United States are likely to be introduced in the early 1990s, the energy efficiency of each alternative is closely examined. © 1990.
