Abstract: This case report describes a 6‐week‐old infant with a Phthirus pubis infestation of the scalp. It is believed this patient is the first reported case in this age group. Treatment is discussed, as are the family dynamics that put this infant at risk. The authors address the possible association between infestation and child abuse. Copyright © 1990, Wiley Blackwell.
