Significance of the altered quality awareness for the development of measuring techniques for plate, hot wide strip and cold strip mills. Equipment of a heavy plate mill with systems for the measurement of temperature, plate geometry and internal defects. Measurement of temperature, speed, rolling force, strip geometry, thickness profile, flatness and temperature gradient in a hot wide strip mill. Measurement of the geometrical dimensions, strip flatness, surface defects as well as surface roughness and texture in a cold mill. Determination of the structural properties of stainless strip.
