摘要
Objectives: To determine whether there is a relationship between frequency of alcohol consumption and Sleep Quality in students. Method: Cross-sectional, descriptive, observational study conducted at four higher education institutes in the region of Murcia. Students' sleep quality was measured through the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Alcohol consumption frequency was determined according to low or high alcohol content and "binge drinking". A multivariate binary logistic regression was performed to study the association between sleep quality and alcohol consumption frequency. Results: A total of 161 students were included in the study. 76.4% of the sample was female and the mean age was 21.6 years (SD: 3.0). For Sleep Quality, the PSQI mean was 6.16 (SD: 2.73). 52.7% (84%) of students were classified as poor sleepers. The relationship between alcohol consumption frequency in any form and Sleep Quality was not significant. Conclusion: The frequency of drinking high or low strength alcohol or "binge drinking" does not appear to be related to sleep quality in patients aged 18-30 years.
