摘要
Combined with site-directed mutagenesis, X-ray structural determination at atomic resolution allows the identification of a catalytic center and other functionally important regions in the three-dimensional structures of proteins that are involved in the excision repair of modified bases within DNA or in recombinational repair. Recent biochemical and genetic approaches, including recombinant DNA techniques, have also provided new insights into-the molecular mechanisms of DNA repair in terms of the tertiary structures of proteins and DNA.
