摘要
Schizophrenic patients may have high levels of depressive symptoms. Depression appears through every stage of schizophrenia, from first episode to chronic conditions. Undergoing treatment indefinitely, family disputes, lack of autonomy perceived, etc., are factors related to a higher probability of having depressive symptoms, being the main complication a high risk of suicide. Therapeutic help is usefull to reduce symptoms and to improve long - term adaptation and prognosis. Interpersonal Psychotherapy has proved effectiveness for depression. In this paper we describe the adaptation of the original model for application in patients with schizophrenia.
